Recreation Fee Assistance

Financial support is available to residents who wish to participate in Town-operated recreational programs and activities but who have financial challenges. To qualify, family units must meet specified income guidelines.

Pending available funding, this program offers subsidy intended to make recreation more affordable for local residents. It relies on funding from grants & donations. Many thanks to the Foothills Salvage and Recycling Society for their generous contributions. A free 1-year membership to the Okotoks Public Library is available to fee assistance recipients.

The program covers Okotoks Recreation Centre facility admission passes (*conditions apply), as well as registered programs (including cultural, certifications, arts, fitness, personal development, and day camps) offered through the Town Community Program Guide.
Up to $200 per year in subsidy is available to each eligible person.
The subsidy can be applied to reduce the cost of programs by 80%
Children ages 3-18, adults and seniors are eligible if family units meet income guidelines

Qualifying for Recreation Fee Assistance

To be eligible for financial support you must live in the Town of Okotoks, Turner Valley, Black Diamond or in Foothills County (in close proximity to these towns) and meet fee assistance income guidelines.

Apply for Recreation Fee Assistance

Submit the online form (which requires proof of eligibility) to the Okotoks Family Resource Centre. You will be notified by email once your application has been processed. Approval is dependent upon meeting eligibility guidelines and sufficient program funding.

Proof of eligibility includes providing a copy of one of the following:

Alberta Adult or Child Health Benefit approval letter showing validation period
Alberta Works health benefits card or AISH medical benefits card showing current month
Canada Revenue Notice for most recent tax year

Fee Assistance applications are accepted year-round and any subsidy granted is valid for 1 year from date of approval. Please note that if you have received subsidy previously, applying for a new subsidy invalidates any previous subsidy balance remaining and these funds are forfeited. We recommend you contact Okotoks Recreation Centre Client Services staff at 403-938-8954 to review your current subsidy balance and expiry date before applying.
