Okotoks Annual Reverse Parade Float Registration

The 2020 Okotoks Reverse Parade is happening on June 20!

This years parade will be a new take on a classic event. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, we have decided to have a parade, but in reverse

All over Okotoks, businesses will have decorated storefronts and vehicles which will be the "floats". We encourage residents to drive by and view all the entries. We will be publishing a virtual parade map on this site so you will be able to know the locations of all entries. "Floats" will be on display from 11:00 AM till 4:00 PM.

How to have a float in the parade

To take part in the parade, please download the 2020 Parade Application form, sign it and email the completed form to zadams@okotoks.ca

Parade History

Staff from the Okotoks Museum & Archives have researched the history of the Okotoks Parade to find the beginnings by using Council minutes and other archived resources. It is determined that there was a post World War I parade in 1918 and a post World War II parade both of which were to celebrate the end of the wars as opposed to a parade with floats. In 1954, the Town had a parade day to celebrate the Town's 50th anniversary, and another in 1955 to celebrate the Province's 50th anniversary. The Okotoks Parade became an annual event in 1969*.
