Okotoks is the regional hub of commercial activity for the Foothills south.  Okotoks, with a population of over 29,002, is the centre of commercial activity.  With the annexation process, Okotoks is expected to grow over the next decades to approximately 80,000 people. The trade area for tourism, industrial, selected retail and professional service businesses is extensive.  It reaches to the southeast region, the MD of Foothills and communities south of Calgary as far as the southeastern region of BC.  This translates and caters to a regional trade area of approximately 250,000 people.
