Municipal Enforcement

Fostering a Sense of Community

The people of Okotoks make the Town a caring, safe and welcoming place to live and visit. Municipal Enforcement Services is dedicated to working with our residents and visitors to help keep Okotoks the clean, healthy and secure community people come to enjoy.

Municipal Enforcement Peace Officers work to educate the public as a way of raising awareness and gaining compliance of Town Bylaws and Provincial Acts and Regulations. Our Community Peace Officers are appointed by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General and are sworn Peace Officers under the Alberta Peace Office Act

Although Municipal Enforcement Officers have many authorities and perform a wide range of duties, they do not have the same powers as Police Officers who have a much wider range of authority. Okotoks Community Peace Officers (CPOs) work collaboratively with the Okotoks Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) out of the Southridge Emergency Services Building.

The public may issue a complaint about a Peace Officer through the Town of Okotoks Chief Administration Officer. Details on the process are available here
